
After graduating as an Industrial Engineer, specialising in Mechanical Engineering, from the School of Engineering at the University of the Basque Country-Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea and with a Diploma in Advanced Studies from the same centre for his research paper on “Engineering of the Ecological Design of Industrial Products, Jose María Fernández embarked on his career in the world of industrial design and product engineering at Tres D, Innovación y Diseño Integral. In 2011, he joined Ihobe, where he has been involved in the line of work on Ecodesign and Lifecycle Assessment.
He was a member of the 150 Standardisation Technical Committee in Spain tasked with preparing the UNE 150301 standard. He was also a member of the ISO 207 Technical Committee, tasked with preparing the ISO 14006 international standard on Ecodesign, published in 2011.
